Why did you join Challenger?

Seemed like a good idea at the time, especially since I was the leader of the group. <G> Seriously, I had  been a member of Starfleet for several years and was a founding member of the USS Constitution and the USS Avenger. The Avenger at the time was the only chapter to serve residents of New Jersey and was rather large. The time had come, especially since local members like myself were doing so many local activities that we simply establish ourselves as a chapter covering Ocean and Monmouth counties.
The rest as they say, is history.

Executive (or First) Officer

How long have you been a member?

Since September of 1992, when I was 12 years old.

Favorite Star Trek Series?

Star Trek: The Next Generation – It was the first Trek I watched, so it will always be my favorite.

Favorite Trek Character?

A toss up between Dr. McCoy and Commander Riker. For McCoy,there’s nothing like combining cool knowledge, that old country doctor’s bedside manner and crotchity-ness to make for a great character. As for Riker, he was always able to size up the situation, take charge when things got out of control and, well, got all the good women. What’s not to love?

Favorite Sci-Fi, Non-Trek Series?

Battlestar Galactica The Reimagined Series – It was excellent writing and an excellent cast. I was never into the original BSG, but I was told how good this show was and was hooked from the first episode that I saw.

Favorite TV Show Overall?

The West Wing – I’m a political junkie, so this show was one of the few that has been done about the political process that has been done right.

Favorite Movie?

The Godfather

Favorite Book or Book Series?

Hotel by Arthur Hailey

Other things you like to do outside of the club?

Read, Travel, Swim, Spend time with my wife and family,

Why did you join Challenger?

I joined because I wanted to have fun with people who were fans of the same things I was. What I didn’t expect was to be a member this long, to learn the things I’ve learned not about Star Trek, but about friendships, leadership and life in general, to make friends who are lifelong, not just fleeting and I didn’t expect to feel the sense of belonging that I do whenever I’m with these folks.
