I*Con 29 — a great experience as always
The convention featured loads of costumed individuals, films, interesting panels (many of which we took part in such as Star Trek Vs. Star Trek.) We also enjoyed guests like Ron Moore of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica and Caprica fame, who went over his speaking time by an extra hour on Sunday afternoon. Charisma Carpenter better known as Cordelia of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel was charming and entertaining. Actress Sarah Douglas known as Ursa from Superman II and V was also present.
There was a lot of positive energy at this con and crew members from each of our chapters present worked hard to bring some new faces of ST fandom into the fold during the weekend. There were a few Trek-uniformed fans as well as one Klingon. Many anime costumes were seen, along with Jabba the Hut and a very tall Chewbacca amid the many Star Wars costumes. Saturday night was the annual ice breaker party hosted by the Britannic, and we enjoyed subs, some bubbly, and much more. Good times were had by all.
The Masquerade was held at the hotel, which was great, as we got to see many of the best costumed individuals present. I’m hoping we see even more STARFLEET attendance next year, because it is truly a convention well worth attending and in a league with Farpoint and Shore Leave in Maryland.
Photos of the con will be posted soon to the Challenger web site. It was great seeing Wayne and the crew of his ship, as well as Keith and the members of the Lincoln.
